ARTICLE  V: Special Rules Governing Each League

  A. 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls
    1. All games will be 6 minute quarters (running clock).
    2. No back court checking the entire game.
    3. Allowed five seconds in the key.
    4. Free throw line is 12 feet.
    5. Clock will stop on foul shots, time outs and in the last minute of the game on all infractions.
    6. Tied games will not be played off.
    7. Intermediate size ball will be used.
    8. Any other rules deemed necessary by the gym supervisor.
  B. 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls
    1. No back court checking in the entire game.
    2. Four seconds in the key.
    3. Free throw line is 12 feet.
    4. Intermediate size ball will be used.
    5. See item D.
  C. 5th and 6th grade boys and girls
    1. Three seconds in the key.
    2. Back court checking allowed in second half only.
    3. No back court checking by the team leading by 10 points or more.
    4. 3 point shots are allowed except at Centennial because gym floor is not marked properly.
    5. Intermediate size ball will be used.
    6. See item D.
  D. Special Rules for grades 3, 4, 5, & 6 boys and girls
    1. All games to be 8 minute quarters with clock stopping on foul shots, time outs, last minute of each quarter on all infractions and other times officials deem necessary.
    2. When back court checking is not allowed: A warning will be issued for the first defensive back court violation. This warning applies for the entire game. A technical foul will be issued for every back court violation committed after the first warning (Penalty: automatic one point with retaining possession of the ball).  Violation constitutes illegal defensive and/or personal foul (e.g.  reaching in, tripping, etc).
    3. When back court checking is allowed: A foul in the back court will be considered a personal and team foul and ball will be taken out-of-bounds and play continues.
    4. A rebounding foul shall not be considered a back court foul.
